Meet Matthew Coley
posted 8 months agoThis season CVCMF welcomes dulcimer performer Matthew Coley to the Cedar Valley . Matthew is Assistant Prof. of Percussion at Iowa State University. The cimbalom is a Hungarian dulcimer that is commonly used in folk music of the Gypsy people and is commonly evoked in the compositions of Brahms, Schubert, and Liszt. A resurgence in cimbalom performance is becoming increasingly popular around Europe and the U.S. To read more about Mathew and his performance on all surfaces check out his website at http://www.hearmatthewcoley.com/Bio.html

CVCMF is thrilled to announce that our 2011 season not only kicks off with great music, but amazing cuisine as well! Waterloo native John Andreas is returning to the Cedar Valley with his vast repertoire of contemporary Midwest cuisine. John is the Executive Chef and Beverage Director of BOS located within the elegant Renaissance Des Moines Savery Hotel. Chef Andres has accepted our invitation to share his own art at our post-concert reception. Come hear works by Dvorak and Brahms then stay for works created by Chef John Andres.
How about a Russian ensemble performing some music by the father of Russian music. Great energy even though the conductor seems more like he is being led rather than leading.
